We board a
BC Ferry in Horseshoe Bay, west of downtown Vancouver, for
the 40-minute cruise through spectacular marine and mountain
scenery, to Langdale and the Sunshine Coast. On arrival we
unload and ride into the nearby village of Gibsons for lunch at
Molly Reach. After lunch we head north, through spectacular ocean vistas
and lush forest to Sechelt, the cultural centre of the Sunshine Coast.
This morning, we bike
north on Highway 101 through numerous picturesque resort
communities, past glittering lakes and stands of ancient cedar.
At Earls Cove, board a BC Ferry for the 50-minute crossing
to Saltery Bay and the upper Sunshine Coast. Continue to
Powell River, "the Dive Capital of Canada."
In the
morning we board another BC Ferry bound for Courtenay/Comox on
Vancouver Island. After riding through Countenay/Comox we
head south along the old Island Highway past oyster farms and
small resort communities. Swim at Qualicum
Beach at the end of great day of cycling.
Head West to Port
Albernie. On the way, stop at Cathedral Grove.
In Port Albernie we spend the late afternoon visiting the
Quay and fishing docks.
This morning, we take MV
Lady Rose mail ferry up Barkley Sound to Ucluelet on
the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Then explore Long Beach
one of Canada's surfing destination. Then up to
Tofino to spend several hours exploring
a unique West Coast Community.
Next morning we drive to
Victoria, have lunch in the center of Victoria. After
lunch we unload the bikes for our final ride out to Swartz Bay
to take one of BC Ferries' frequent sailings from
Swartz Bay back to Tsawwassen and Vancouver.
