A great family trip
suitable for all ages.
This tour is part of the
Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) system which starts at Castlegar British
Columbia and goes to Hope British Columbia 95 miles east of
Vancouver. The abandoned rail line covers over 800 km of British
Columbia. On this day trip we start at what is known as the Paulson Bridge
and ride to Castlegar
on the Columbia Western Railway section of the KVR. (61 km/38 miles). This spectacular
ride starts at the top of a mountain pass and takes you down to Castlegar
thru amazing tunnels and over some very high trestles with great view of
the Arrow Lakes. All the trestles have been re decked and have
railings. The Bull Dog tunnel at just over 900 meters (3000 feet)
in length is the longest tunnel on the entire KVR. This trip is a full day
on the bike, the ride may be all down hill but it requires you to be
comfortable on your bike for approx. 5 hours. The surface is not
paved.
Included in this trip is lunch, transportation from Nelson, two guides, and a whole lot of local
knowledge.
