This is a day trip out of Nelson. If you require accommodations we
would be more than happy to book them for you. Leaving Nelson we drive
up the beautiful Slocan Valley to New Denver. Once arriving at the
Highway Maintenance yard in New Denver (also the trail head) we unload
the bikes and start our adventure. New Denver to Three Forks on
the N&S Railway now called the Galena Trail is the West Kootenays
premier single track rail trail. Explore this magnificent 13 km
trail from Roseberry to Three Forks. Cross Carpenter Creek in a trolley
car and visit a true ghost town, once home to thousands of people. Once
we arrive at Three Forks you have a couple of
options one of which is riding on to Sandon approx. 5km along a dirt road.
Sandon is/or was the largest ghost town in the area. Another option is
to ride the highway back down to New Denver (not recommended) or turning
around and cruise down this great single track trail you have just
ridden up. We have taken all age groups on this trail with out any
problems, ages have ranged from 5 to 82. After a full day of exploring it's all down hill back to
the highways yard in
New Denver or if time permits we can ride further down the trail to
Roseberry located on Slocan Lake. Once the day is finished we head back
to Nelson via Kaslo to show case the rest of the great West Kootenays.
Included in this trip is lunch, transportation to
New Denver from Nelson, two guides, and a whole lot of local
knowledge.
